Monthly Posture Lab - The "Tuck"

All levels of practitioners are invited to attend the Posture Lab every second Saturday of the month. Take a deep dive into the structure and mechanics of a specific asana and learn what muscles and joints are required to create and stabilize the shape in your own body. Jill will help you explore active and passive actions, and guide you through variations of the posture in seated, standing, lying, or inverted options. This is an open-format workshop and yogis are encouraged to ask questions throughout. Teachers and Teacher Trainees may choose to use the program as continuing education. Supportive language and supportive touch will be offered.

There are a whole bunch of shapes that involve deep flexion of the spine and curling in of the legs to create a "tuck" form, the theme for May. We'll ignite the abdominal muscles to create core compression and connect to the strength of the hip flexors to pull the thighs in close. Asana will include seated folds like Marichyasana, standing balances like "Flamingo", and potentially some inverted balances like Bakasana (Crane Pose) and a tuck/half-tuck handstand.

These workshops now count towards CECs for Registered Yoga Teachers! Please inquire with Jill to get your continuing education credits.
